Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 28, 2026

Your photos are processed on your iPhone. This policy separates photo processing from limited technical information that Apple, our website host, or an included software component may process.

1. Scope

This policy covers the Scraps iPhone app and website. The app and website handle information differently, as described below.

Scraps is operated by Norihiro Mukai, an individual business based in Tokyo, Japan. It is offered to users in the United States and is not directed to or marketed to users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.

2. Photos and on-device cutout processing

  • Photo processing: the cutout model is bundled with the app, and cutout processing runs on your iPhone.
  • Developer photo service: the current app does not operate a developer-hosted service for uploading or storing the contents of the photos you select.
  • AI training: we do not use your photos, cutouts, text, drawings, or finished pages to train AI models.
  • Included software: the app includes MediaPipe Tasks for on-device processing. In the audited release-candidate build, its active logger drops events, and physical-device testing found no Google or MediaPipe telemetry. Apple services, website delivery, and support email are described separately below.
  • Tracking and ads: the app does not include an advertising SDK and is not designed to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

3. Photo access, saving, and sharing

Apple's system photo picker lets you choose specific images without giving Scraps broad access to your photo library. The app requests add-only Photos permission when you ask it to save a finished page.

If you use iCloud Photos, Apple may sync selected source photos and saved pages according to your Apple settings. If you use the system share sheet, the service or app you choose processes the finished image under its own terms and privacy policy.

4. Local storage, device backup, and deletion

Your current editable draft is stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone until you replace it, delete it from Help & Legal, or delete the app. Deleting a local draft does not delete your original photos or pages you already exported.

Scraps does not operate its own cloud-sync or photo-storage service. Apple may include local app data in your iPhone backup, depending on your iCloud or computer-backup settings. A restored backup may therefore restore a draft or local app preferences.

5. Apple services and purchases

Apple may process App Store purchases, purchase restoration, diagnostics, crash information, and aggregated usage or sales information under Apple's terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your Apple Account password or full payment-card details.

6. The website

The current website does not accept photo uploads. Our hosting and security providers may process request information such as IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time, request identifiers, and security logs to deliver and protect the website. They may also set strictly operational or security cookies. We do not use this information for targeted advertising or sell it. Provider-controlled logs and backups follow the provider's retention schedule.

7. Support messages

If you email support, we receive the email address and name used to send the message, its contents and headers, and any attachment you choose to include. We use that information to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and keep necessary records of a dispute or legal obligation.

Support email is hosted by Google Workspace. A mail filter also forwards some support messages to a Microsoft Outlook/Hotmail mailbox used by the developer, so Google and Microsoft may process those messages under their respective privacy terms.

We aim to delete support messages and attachments from the active mailboxes within 90 days after the issue is resolved, unless longer retention is reasonably necessary for law, a dispute, security, or abuse prevention. Service-provider backups may retain limited copies for an additional period.

8. Children

Scraps is a general-audience creative tool and is not designed or marketed for children. A person who does not have legal capacity to agree where they live should use the app only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

9. Changes and contact

If data handling changes, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy answers before releasing that change. Privacy questions can be sent to support@scrapsphoto.com or through our Support page.
